In late 1987, a young girl, her body scratched with racist epithets and smeared with feces, climbed out of a garbage bag in upstate New York. The story she told, of kidnapping and rape involving 6 local police officers, set off a media firestorm and led to a trial which vividly illustrated the relationship between race and justice in late 20th century America.
We present names of some of the players in this "opera", in a relatively random order and "sans vowels".
