As stated in the beginning (June 1990), FAILURE INSTITUTE was realized to be a ten year project and intended to exist only until the last moment of 1999.
Remarkably, we have persevered and are now approaching that point in time. There will probably be an archived version of Failure Institute preserved somewhere but the project will indeed end at 23:59:59 on the 31st day of December, 1999.
A thousand years ago, at the beginning of the second millennium, the frightened masses rushed to the cathedrals for comfort and reassurance. At the impending end of the twentieth century they will all rush to the television for the same reasons. Before the power goes out, they will most likely see something quite similar to this:
